The LG G2 is the first Smartphone handset to come without side buttons, with a control pad on the back of the handset. It sounds like an interesting innovation - but will it work?
T3 say the new design isn't quite perfect yet but were impressed by many of the features on the device, which LG hope will reverse its fortunes in the Smartphone marketplace.

The concept of putting buttons on the back came from research which revealed that the larger Smartphone’s became, the harder it was for users to access side keys, LG said.

“Moving the main buttons to the back of the phone gave users more control since this place was where individuals’ index fingers are naturally located,” LG said in a statement.
“Researchers found that moving the buttons also resulted in fewer dropped phones when adjusting the volume while talking.”

The buttons on the back allow users to launch the camera and a note-taking application. The power button is also located on the back of the device, but if the phone is lying on a table users can switch it on by tapping on the screen twice.
The LG G2 will sport a 5.2-inch phablet-sized screen, along with a speedy quad-core processor and uniquely positioned rear buttons. Verizon Wireless has announced it will not only carry the LG G2, but its variant will have a unique exclusive -- built-in wireless charging.
The Verizon LG G2 will officially feature wireless-charging, but LG and Verizon did not comment on how the wireless charging would work -- on whether it would be a Qi-compatible device or utilize a specific accessory from LG.
Built-in wireless charging was also featured in the Nexus 4, the Smartphone running a stock version of the Android OS manufactured by LG for Google. The LG G2 pictured on the Verizon Wireless website also features a metallic-looking Rear Key. The LG G2’s Rear Key is a uniquely positioned power button that emits a white LED glow when pressed, sandwiched between two volume keys.

"Jolla" Smartphone.....Sailfish OS

A group of ex-Nokia employees who quit over the company's decision to abandon the planned MeeGo operating system in favour of Windows launched their own smartphone on Monday, hoping it will be a strong rival for other big names in the market.

Well, named The Jolla, it is a smartphone which is entirely intuitive and has no buttons. The model has a 4.5-inch touch screen and features two different-coloured halves that together make up the phone. It runs its own operating system called Sailfish OS, a successor to MeeGo and which is compatible with some Android applications. 

The company is offering Sailfish products to retailer and operator partners for the medium-price range. 

According to Marc Dillon, head of Sailfish development, existing operating systems "do not really support a great deal of flexibility. One (iOS) is completely closed and one (Android) pushes its own services pretty heavily." "I see that Sailfish will be used on lots of different devices from other manufacturers as well. We have a constant stream of interest," he told AFP. 

Dillon said he would be "very happy with one million sold devices in one year." 

Jolla hopes to take on markets in China, Europe and North Africa, but not the United States. 

Smartphone operating systems are dominated by Google's Android and Apple's iOS. Jolla's Sailfish, like Microsoft's Windows and Mozilla's Firefox, are trying to break their dominance on the market. 

Jolla has already signed two distribution deals, with the largest smartphone retailer in China, D Phone, and the Finnish operator DNA. The Sailfish OS will also run on tablets. 

Jolla, which counts four former Nokia engineers and directors among its five founders, was started in 2011 and now has some 70 employees. Let's see if this can pose a threat to the major names in the smartphones market.

Samsung as shaken up the whole Mobile Phone market with the launch of the Amazing Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8. Both running on Android 4.2 [Jelly Bean].

Galaxy Mega 6.3, ofcourse features a 6.3-inch TFT HD display and is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor. This device has 1.5GB RAM and comes in 8 and 16GB memory options, with microSD card support up to 64GB. This phone can connect to the internet over 2G, 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks and transfer data via Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and NFC. The manufacturer has strapped an 8MP camera with LED flash on the back of the device, whereas a 1.9MP shooter on the front.

The smaller device in the line-up, Galaxy Mega 5.8, features a 5.8-inch TFT touchscreen and runs on a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU, coupled with 1.5GB RAM. This phone is available with only 8GB internal storage and supports microSD cards with capacities up to 64GB. Connectivity features in the device include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. On the back of this smartphone is an 8MP shooter with LED flash, while a 1.9MP unit is used on the front panel.

Samsung hasn't revealed the pricing yet but they'll be out soon.............

BlackBerry Z10 in India...

 
BlackBerry has finally formally introduced the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone stacked with BlackBerry 10 operating system in India today. The Z10 was launched with pomp and show and an amazing demonstration of the new BlackBerry Z10 mobile operating system shown on the stage in Mumbai, India. The price set for the BlackBerry Z10 is Rs 43,490 in India and the BlackBerry Q10 is also expected to be available in April this year.

As per BlackBerry the new BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system has been developed from scratch using the super elements of the BlackBerry OS and real-time Linux kernel based QNX operating system. The new user interface focuses quite heavily on gestures and on making the best of the available resources to make it an amazing user experience. So basically, BlackBerry has included each and everything required to make this phone a really really smart phone.........Hopefully this would be a stiff competition for Samsung and probably Apple as well.

The magnificent BlackBerry Z10 out on January 30th

The new year has come with lot of amazing things in terms of technology and this time its the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion [RIM] which just threw out information of the release of a new software update for its BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices, and should make it available for download starting with January 30. 

According to a recent info from bbin.in, the new software update will arrive on devices with BlackBerry Hub, Phone and BlackBerry Maps. And not just that, the long rumored BlackBerry Z10 smartphone would be hitting the shelves at TELUS and Bell on the same day, that is January 30th. It will be available in both Black and White coats. That's just awesome, isn't it.

Well, there is not much information of what features and hardware the smart phones packs but the details should be pretty much out in another day or two. But it seems like it would be hotter than the competitor Apple's iPhone. There are quite a lot of hints of that with the way BlackBerry is looking forward to the release. Gorilla Glass 3 - toughness test...........

For all those who thought Gorilla Glass 2 was the toughest one in the market, well Corning just proved all of them wrong. It came out with its Gorilla Glass 3 last week which surpasses the 2nd version of it in all the tests by a good number of points. That's right, the smart phones are just going to be a lot more stronger in the near future. 

That means you can handle your costly and precious phones just about as roughly as you handle your pen or any other thing as it is not going to have any effect on it if it has one of these on it. I'm sure you all are looking forward to get my hands on it and feel the power of Gorilla.

Xperia Z and Xperia ZL unveiled

Sony finally comes out with its new monsters Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. Yes, the much awaited 5" Xperia series phones are out in the market for the users. Lets check what these have to offer:

Xperia Z:

The Xperia Z includes the latest Snapdragon S4 Pro with a quad-core 1.5GHz Krait processor, Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB of RAM. It flaunts a 5" LED-backlit 1080p display with Mobile Bravia 2 Engine which is amazingly smooth and touch sensitive. The 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor clicks extremely clear images and is capable of 1080p video recording with HDR option.


Well it is quite touch and is dust and water resistant. It has a non-removable 2,330 mAh battery which makes it run for hours on a single charge.
In terms of connectivity, it has pretty much everything - LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and FM radio. And you can also use a microSD card to increase the storage.
The phone obviously runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and uses latest version of Sony's proprietary launcher. It will hit the shelves this March, but unfortunately the pricing is yet to be announced but with all this that wouldn't really matter much.

Xperia ZL:

The Xperia ZL is a quite similar to the Xperia Z except for the slightly different design. The Xperia ZL has the front camera placed at the bottom right corner of the front panel, has a tad smaller footprint (but thicker profile) and is slightly lighter than the Xperia Z.


Yes, the rest of the hardware is exactly the same so no change there.

Lets hope March comes sooner and we can get our hands on these magnficent pieces of technology.

Google Glass - Finally to be released in 2013

I bet we have all been hearing about the computerized glasses that Google has been working on since a couple of years and have been patiently waiting to hear the news of it being available. Well, the time has come. After seeing the amazing prototypes of the Google glass during Google’s 2012 summer developer conference, Google began taking pre-orders to be shipped out in early 2013. Now is that news or what?

Yes, folks. We have finally stepped into a future that we always dreamt of. Though the “Google Glass: Explorer Edition,” the version of the hi-tech specs Google has promised to ship each cost a whopping $1,500 per pair, orders of which were restricted to those lucky attendees of the conference. Still we are quite close to have the glasses available for other users. And it would happen pretty soon.

iPhone 5 - a deep review......:)

So the iPhone 5 is out and even though you won't find much innovation on the iPhone 5 as compared to the 4S, still enough to make sure it still sits on the top spot when it comes to Smartphones.

The most important in terms of looks, the iPhone 5 is thinner and lighter than the competitors, and it now features a 4-inch screen which is impressive. So It looks even better in your hands. The new 4-inch screen has a 1,136-640 pixel resolution which means you can view about anything on it. This is especially great for videos and games, but we have to deal with a lot of apps, Netflix and YouTube included, that have yet to update and take advantage of the additional screen space.So yes, it lacks there.

As far as the exterior is concerned, the iPhone 5 is as stylish as ever. The back plate now features coated aluminum similar to what you'll find on Mac computers. The finish looks great, but unfortunately, it's much more susceptible to scuffs than the iPhone 4S or 4 back plates were.

In terms of power, the new Apple A6 processor and the ability to connect to 4G LTE, it runs faster than ever. When you Google a query, it is amazing how quickly the phone will show you results. Even when you check the 3-D maps, the iPhone 5 quickly starts generating buildings. Yes, it is fast and like I said it looks good too.

Ok, so the iPhone 5's comes with two new cameras [same as 4S], the rear camera now takes quicker pics and shoots much better in low light, but the most impressive upgrade comes with the front camera, which now shoots in 720p HD. Awesome isn't it? Photos and videos shot with the front camera are so much improved, that you'll likely be using it for more than just video calls like maybe clicking pics with your girlfriend.

As you've likely heard, Apple has ditched Google for its Maps app. That, in turn, has resulted in less accurate maps and information than was previously available. Worse, though, is the fact that Maps will no longer give you public transportation information unless you pay for a third-party app. Sucks big time....:(

The other major change and a very very important one is on the Lightning, its new, smaller connector. The Lightning is about one-fourth the size of its predecessor and can be attached whether it is face down or up, meaning you'll never again have that experience in which you try plugging the cable in but it's upside down. This sounds really nice, doesn't it?

So for all the Apple fans, this is still going to rock and that's all the iPhone 5 is all about.
